Fine Finish - Option

A Fine Furniture Finish

We've taken the elements of a high end furniture finishing to the Bagpipe Cradle.. The process is an “old school” way of naturally finishing custom furniture. It is with great pride that we offer this option to you.

The “Fine Finish” does not appear too in high gloss. Medium sheen - warm glow that allows the beauty of the wood to come out.

Our formula for a Fine Finish:

  1. We sand the wood cradle with 220 grit paper after our normal sanding schedule.
  2. Apply a color stain to the wood if desired.
  3. Apply a coat of linseed oil - linseed oil natural “pop's the grain” with a warm tone of oil. It is made from flax seeds and conditions the wood slightly.
  4. Apply a coat of dewaxed shellac – shellac is a natural finish made from lac bug. A little red bug found in India. Shellac offers a lot of warm and depth to woods. It also brings out to life stained woods.
  5. Sand the shellac coat with 400+ grit paper, to a silky smooth touch.
  6. Appply several coats of a special Oil/Varnish mix (Very Traditional)
  7. Finish up with several coats of high quality wax.. We use several types of waxes depending on the wood and color of a stain.
  8. Polish it up and allow to fully cure before sending it off for shipment.
